Should of brought it a little farther south, to Dan's house, then it would at least be inside.

it makes it so you can run the front in high, IE if your in 4 high, you can just slip the rear into nutral, without shifting the front into low.
From what i read its only usefull if you are running a doubler.

Ok, today i learned the thrust washers on the itermediate shaft.of a dana 300 only go one way, and, you have to tighten up the bolts that hold the forks to the shift rail before you install the intermediate shaft.

Here is where i left for the night. The 231 is back togather and so is the 300, i put the clocking ring on the 300 and and started sizing up how they go together.

thanks to bigtony for getting my case cut and machined, and fullsize4life for welding in the plate.

the 300 is a little restrictive on mounting, debating on cutting off the shifter mounts since i am planning on running cable shifters.

and grinding the case to put the bolts in.

so I started looking at shifters, I am probably going to get the North West Fab tripple stick reverse cable shifters. They make w nice kit, and I can hardly even buy cables for the price they quoted me.
This got me looking at shiftrts for the trans and... now I want a reverse pattrn manual valve body..
I guess this can be done with the trans in the truck but, I can always do it when I liven up the motor too... Perhaps I need a rolling, driving chassis first...
Here is my thought line. A manual valve body would be nice since might not always want to start in first with all the gearing I have, 7:1 with both cases in low, plus the 700r4 has a lower 1st gear. Faster, firmer shifts. More controll. And its just cool.
Autos are nice for dune crusing, and might be nice for racing.
This thought kinda makes me wish I stuck with the 4l60e where I could run it both ways... But, I wanted to be rid of the computer...
