Well, I got things buttoned up enough to get her up to the dunes for a few hours on Sunday. This thing is a BEAST! zipped right up test hill without a problem, but it is going to take a while to get used to the short wheelbase, large body size, and less than 20" of travel.

Over all it did good untill a little junk made it past the fuel filter and the primaries started to plug up. It ran like shit until I would get into it and the secondaries opened up. That was the only time it really did what it was supposed to. It's definately going to be a fun ride up there once we get the rest of the bugs worked out of it!!!!

A couple pics down by the beach...

OK- so I've been improving on little items like a new drag-link, new C-bushings, I'll be fitting some new shocks in it this week, and this past weekend I added a B&M Megashifter to it. I wanted to make a mount for it that would get it up where I needed it to be able to reach while bouncing through the dunes at high speeds. I think this will work out just fine. I'll be making a custom counsole for it here shortly with some built-in cup holders for it as well.

Dunes? I'm sure... But it's been a whole lot of fun spankin' the ricers at the lights here in town....

I'm actually driving it back and forth to work this week. I took it out to the beach Sunday afternoon with all the windows down. Man was that fun!!!!

All right. The set of paddles for next season are on the way. To insure traction and eliminate wheel hop, a pair if anti-wrap links are in order.

I started by turning out some fresh bungs on the lathe-

We got them tapped in and tigged-

and a couple coats of Rust-O-Lium cardinal red. It's a dead ringer for Skyjacker red!!!

yes..... it's just a couple boxes sitting in the engine compartment with some blankets and tarps draped over them.

I'm going to completely clean that pig-stye out this week. I need to do some serious reorganizing before the snow falls!!!!

If time allows, I'll be starting on the bodywork in early November so it's show-worthy again for the opening of the dunes next year.

Thanks Kenny!

Lower link update: I got the mounts burned in and painted. Links are installed and work great so far. This weekend at the dunes will give me a better idea.

Next spring with a nice fat pair of paddles will really tell me how well they work though...

Knowing Tim, either hose clamps or ny-ties.

You know those nice black ties you get with a fresh box of the large garbage bags???

Just kidding!!! Matched mounts- same as the frame, but with the rounded mounting area. I got them from A&A in Spring Lake. 3/16" laser cut and stamped mounts. I think they were about $5 each. Welded in between the u-bolts on the axle tubes.
They held up to some hard launches on the pavement, so they should hold up in the sand....

Thanks Bigbchevy!!!!

Last run in the dunes this weekend. I can't wait!!!
and then putting her to bed for the year to start on some serious body R&R.

Unless you have 2 mounting points on the rear axle i think you will still get some wrap.
