Default 14 bolt odd question??

ok so a buddy told me today he was driving down the highway and he said he saw a lifted truck with a 14 bolt, but he says it was flipped where the ring gear was on the right side instead of the left?

I'm not sure it was a 14b but he swears it was as he has one under his, but the question was if it was can you flip it this way and if so what the purpose would you do this for?

so any one has a clue, clue me on it please, and not quite sure you even can but I have heard of them being used for front axles so who knows.

I do believe that the 14 bolt semi float axle ring gear is opposite the full floater.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say he was mistaken.

If the ring gear was on the other side he would be going backwards.
