Default Fanuc Robots

So I am sitting at work right now and one of our Fanuc robots just starts moving in all kinds of directions it is not programmed to do, the friggin thing is break dancing

I turned the power off and re-booted it up and it is still doing it, I then cleared the program and put it in teach mode and programmed it again and it is still doing it like it has a mind of it's own.

This is the craziest shit I have ever seen, I wish my phone could take videos this is something that anyone with robotic experience has to see, now I am just sitting here waiting for a return call from Fanuc.

Anyone with Fanuc experience know what could be wrong?

It will not stop moving and it is not making any of the prox switches, it is traveling to the end of the axis but I don't see a prox signal being made even though the prox lights up, I think it has a bad board.

I am going to try to switch out the board from another bot and verify.

Yeah some girl took a vid of it and is going to post it on youtube, we got it fixed it was a bad board, craziest thing I ever seen though, the robot should have faulted out and even tripping the light curtain did not stop it, someone could have gotten seriously hurt, still waiting on Fanuc to call so I can tell them what I think of their pos robots, we never have any issues with the abb bots.

I have to say I've never seen a Fanuc do this. Usually if the board goes the controller goes into fault.

I worked with a Fanuc Robot in the past that would through parts at random.

Ended up being a short in a board as well..

Right but the bot did not fault out and even tripping the light curtain would not stop it, only way to stop it was to kill the power. We have it programmed so if the light curtain is tripped it also faults the robot out because operators in the past would trip the curtain on accident when the bot was close to the tool and then they would home it and on the way home it would crash into the tool, so now when the curtain is tripped we need to manually move the bot away from the tool reset the fault and then home it.

Sounds like your light curtain isn't interlocked correctly, should be tied into your master on circuit, which will dump main power immediately, not just fault circuit. Certainly if you have workers anywhere near that light curtain its not controlled safe enough.

Fanuc are not bad robots, we use quite a few of them, probably most of our maintenace crews favorite out of Nachi/Denso.

I agree that is how it should be interlocked, however powers higher than me decided to interlock it with the fault circuit because otherwise after tripping the curtain the operators would start it back up and home the robot and depending where it was at when it was tripped it could and has crashed into the tool, so they wanted it to fault out so maintenance has to come out and manually move the bot away from the tool before clearing the fault and homing it.

Not my idea and I have also mentioned it as being a safety hazard but my advice is falling on deaf ears, the bean counters want to protect the tool more than skulls...lol
