Default Ox Adjustment

Ok, so this Ox is driving me a bit nuts.

I've been trying to adjust the cable, but i have to crank down the shifter end to the point where its almost near impossible to force the shifter to the engaged detent before it locks in. If I adjust the cable or shifter out a just a hair it doesn't engage.

Anyone else have experience with these things?

I'd suggest tech, but its easier to pay someone else to do it as I recall.

I don't have any problems with mine. Are you sure the cable is set properly on the axle side? It sounds like it's off or your cable is messed up.

I've been having the same problem with mine. It worked fine and now it won't engage. Might just pay to have someone do it cuz it's driving me crazy.

Will it just not engage, or does it feel like you are going to break the handle off the shifter to get it to set in the detent?

If it just won't engage that might be an easy fix with cable adjustment.

I'm seriously considering a spool or a detroit and let someone else who likes to dick with this stuff get a good deal on a used Ox :)

Stupid question, but are you driving when you are trying to put it in?

Not driving, but jacked up rotating the wheels.

Thats what the few write ups I read about adjusting the cables said to do.

That's how I do mine too. It's been forever since I've had to adjust mine but is there a cable adjustment at the bell housing where it screws into the cover along with the handle adjustment?

Tried this?

Just click the cable adjustment link.
I have had two and when I followed the factory instructions I never had an issue. Good luck!

I fucked with it tonight. I think the thing that slides the shift fork back and forth wasn't fully threaded into the shift fork. I think it works now

Either way it locks...which is the important part for me :) lol
