Ok I just finished the West Texas mod last night with a new pump and I can definitely say that it works. The steering is a lot easier, I can turn the wheels unlocked with one finger on dry pavement lock to lock. No way I could do this before the mod.

What I did was remove the shims, shorten the limiting stud, and drilled out the main fitting. It was simple enough that it could be done with the pump still in the blazer. Best of all this was a free and it works!!
