OK OK OK. I'm not a Ford guy through and through.... But I am getting there!

Thanks for the compliments!

I spent the weekend dropping the fuel tank, running new lines, and rebuilding the carb.

New sending unit/pick-up assy on the way from Jeff's Bronco Graveyard. Tank and skid were also repainted and under coated while it was apart.

It's now sporting some new 6" KC rounds on the front and I'm in process of getting the new Smittybuilt double tube rear bumper mounted up on the rear to match the front. I'm about 1/2 way done fabbing up the new mounts.

If everything goes together like I hope, I'll have it up at the dunes for a shake-down run this weekend!!!!

OK- it was a rather busy weekend dropping the gas tank, cleaning it out, running new rubber lines and cleaning out the stainless ones. The tank has been re-undercoated and the skid plate repainted and undercoated. I didn't bother with pics of any of that because it's just boring.

Now for the visable stuff.
I got the lights mounted on the front end:

Modified the stock rear bumper mounts and got the matching rear bumper installed last night:

I don't think that I'm going to use this filler plate- at least until I pull everything apart this winter for a little bodywork and some fresh paint:

and the carb has been gone through and all the setiment cleaned out of everything. Hopefully we get it fired up tonight after bolting it back on and getting the new fuel pick-up /sending unit installed.

After we get it fired up tonight, we'll warm it up good, take her out for a little spin down the country roads and drop the oil, tranny fluid, and gear lube out of it.

That will just leave Wed and Thursday nights to give it a bath,, put some quieter mufflers on it, get some type of handle on the inside of the door to help me get in it, and load it up for the dunes for the weekend.

There will be more updates as we add a cage, take care of the bodywork and paint, and a few suspention upgrades which I'll update throughout the winter.

I think i need to test drive it to make sure it is ok. Would hate to have it be to much power for you. By the way i have a nice set of chambered mufflers in my shop if you need a set.

I had 1 thrush sitting on the shelf and I ordered up it's mate this morning. I'll get those on tomorrow night and see how they sound. Over the winter I'm planning on something in the 3" variety with some flowies on it. I've never been a big fan of the 2.5" pipes.

No, I'm just yanking your chain.

You did give me the car though, that is parked towards the back, left handed side of your garage.

I thought you got rid of the ZJ for something more practical

But this is a sweet ride for sure. I always like this era broncos and I'm sure that SOB scoots with that power plant in it.

I had pretty much written off getting this thing because I expected him to keep it untill he died, but he surprised me a month ago when he told me that he was finally ready to let it go. There were a couple stipulations on the sale (NO ROCK CRAWLING with it) but I'm cool with that.
I wanted something from that era- either full size or EB with a big block that would limit my activities to weekend cruising and the dunes and this is definately that. I'm not too worried about the fuel milage as this will strictly be a weekend warrior toy. If I don't have the $$$, I just won't take it out.

I am very excited to get this thing up to the dunes Labor Day weekend though- and have something that I can just drive in and not worry about a parking spot for the trailer for a change!!!!

After a few more nights of working until midnight and a quick bath, it is starting to look like something that can hit the dunes and streets in the very near future.

Carb has been gone through, new tank installed, new quieter mufflers installed, fluids changed, and it has been driven down the road to get some gas.

I'll be installing the new drag link tonight to eliminate the little shimmy it has, and we discovered that the fuel pump body is cracked and squirts a little gas on the engine block every time the pump pumps.
A quick trip to Lane tomorrow morning and she'll be ready for the dunes on Sunday. I'm meeting a few buddies up there, so if you see us- say HI!!!

A couple pics of her all cleaned up:

Reminds me of the 79 Bronco I had years ago. If I had the coin I would get another, but I have other fish to fry at the moment.

Looks like a winner. As long as you're happy with it.
