Looks like a cheap way to get on the trail. Maybe I'll bid on it and fix it. If he's correct about the Dana rear, its a centered D44 with 1-piece shafts.

What kind of rust free Jeep is clearly missing the Jeep tub stamp and fuel filler body mold?

I thought so too, until I noticed that little chunk just below where the driver's lower door hinge would be.

I have a '76 Renegade '5 that doesn't have the indentation for the old side filler neck. It is a steel body too and has the Jeep logo, but yet it has the smooth sides. I haven't seen another one like it. Although I am wondering if it has something to do with the tailgate delete option.

Edit: This one is also tailgate delete... but yet has the stamping:

end hijack

Don't forget that your '76 is the first year for the 3rd generation of CJ5. The '74 -75 are known as intermediates (as this guy is advertising) which are supposed to have the Jeep stamps near the upper door hinges, not near the lower like yours. Also, the under-seat filler mould is more pronounced.

not to be a dick, but Cornfed, you are starting to annoy me.

I love using google, and your input makes it so I don't have to go there anymore.

Also note thats a 76+ windshield, and non stock steering column for a 72-75 model.

My 75 renegade had a tailgate delete and had the stamping behind the drivers door for the old side-fill fuel filler.

Those kinda look like the smaller 5 bolt hubs on the front, too.
