The Concord area isn't bad. I used to have a girlfriend that lived in that area and besides it just being anonymous suburban sprawl, there was nothing inherently wrong with it.

One good thing is that you would be about 50 miles from the entrance into Uwharrie National Forest in Troy which has some decent wheeling (or did at least the last time I was down there for any extended period of time).

All you need to know. I live in Statesville and it is way cheaper then LKN or Mooresville. Traffic is horrible here. So are the drivers.

That being said I've been here 3 years and won't be moving back to MI anytime soon. I like the long boating season and the lack of snow.
