Default Arizona transplant

Hello all, what's new in the Midwest? I grew up in Northern Illinois some 30 years ago. Now I'm moving back. I've been rock crawling and trail riding here in AZ with my 76 CJ5. If I recall Illinois was corn fields and cows. Where does I guy go to escape and relax with his Jeep?

Hi.
First off, you will never find the kind of wheeling right out your back door like you have had in AZ. If you are moving to IL, the closest rock crawling will be Attica IN. From there, you can go southeast to Harlan KY, or southwest to Flat/nasty in Missouri. You can also go north the Iron Range in MN. If you come Michigan way, there are a couple private parks that are fun to play but just man made obstacles. Or you can go all the way to the top of Michigan (east end) and go into Canada. There are some other parks close to you but not known for rocks.

One place that didn't get mentioned is Cliff's Insane Terrain, and it looks like Oglesby IL is probably about 20 minutes from there. Its not the biggest park, nor have the coolest stuff around, but having a park that close can be fun. They allow ATVs too, and have a tire size restriction of 39" I believe.

I've wheeled there a bunch of times, and you can pretty much do the park in a day.

Next closest to you is the Badlands, which is probably 4x larger than Cliffs and has a full-size-vehicle-only area if you don't want the MX and ATV guys buzzing around you.

Welcome, and post up if you're going to Cliffs. Its about 3 hours for me to get there.

Andy
