Default Hot Stuff!

Has anybody ran a 210 thermostat on a stock 6 cylinder engine on a Jeep TJ Unlimited? We're trying to lower the under hood temperatures to stop vapor locking. If you have what did it do? We're not looking to run it in choke mode. Thanks guys.

I thought 210 was stock on a 4.0.

190 and an electric fan here. It never hits 200 even with heat, traffic, and a supercharger.

I am running a 195 in my jeep. and it runs at that temp. I also replace the radiator with this one: http://www.shepherdautoparts.com/aut...ORwqLCog==.htm

My jeep was running quite hot before I did this upgrade. I am very happy with the new radiator and the cost of it as well.

I put a Fan clutch from a zj 5.2 into my 4.0(zj is considerably larger)...stopped the temp from peaking while at idle....The stock electric fan if it works comes on at 220-225 alil bit late for me..So i wired it to a universal temp switch to come on at 210

Mines running 190 with a 185 temp stat(long idle will hit 210)

if needed i have the advance auto parts number for fan clutch

i'm not sure what temp the computer sees as "operating temp," but if you go too low, the engine never enters closed-loop mode and your mileage will suffer pretty significantly.

like i said, not sure what that temp-point in the computer is, but I'd say your likely safe with a 195. much below that, and....

BTW - what makes you think you have vapor lock? i've not really heard of ANY TJ having this problem before.

Some have come across the problem which is the same as the xj and what happens after the underhood temps get to extreme and you shut your jeep off and dont give it enough time to cool the gas actually boils before it hits the injector so when or if it starts it runs really crappy.
