Laws exist to protect the majority from the minority (not minorities, racists) - and of course, they're selectively enforced, and sometimes used as a reason to just pull someone over. To the extreme, without lift laws, people would drive shit with 44" tires on the road (and did in the past).

Really, we have a lot of freedoms in this country, but does one of them have to include 37" tires and an 8" lift on a daily driver / tow rig?

no law is able to be 100% enforced and laws are always a reason used to pull somone over

Asshole.

I mean the laws like "Window tint too dark" and "having a headlight out".

Our tint is legal on our Saab, but I think we would be ignored if it was too dark - versus having limo tint on all of the windows of a 78 caprice with 24" dubs.

I have never gotten pulled over for a headlight out until a few years ago: We were driving through a small town in Washington state late at night on our way to a campground. We must have fit a profile - old pickup, with a camper in the bed - and we were pulled over. I did have a replacement light with me, but was just too lazy to replace it yet. The officers were courteous and after talking to us and seeing our info / I.D., were happy to be on their way.

bumpers are legal height...then what reasonable suspicion did the officer have to stop you?

if his reasonable suspicion didnt work out(bumpers being too high, which they arent) then you could get it thrown out under unlawful search and seizure(measuring would be considered "search"),since he did not actually have real R.A.S. for the original stop.

I'm wondering when I'm going to get pulled over for driving with a c-clamp holding one of the running boards on. I suppose if it fell off it could hurt someone, eh? That's on the Super Duty. The TJ's grounded until I can get the wobble fixed.

the guy who pulled you over says, he doesnt make the laws he just enforces them, and that the law is the law if either the bumpers or frame are over height end of story.

I'm definatly no expert here but couldent he just get wider rims? they do shorten the tire down a bit but I dont know if a person could get a 3" difference or not.

The law is there not only for granny hahaha Our families and friends that drive these roads with us and its just safer for all.

Dude you may just have to break down an get some smaller tires.
