Default pretty pissed...

wife just called. she got run off the road earlier this morning. Guy in a full sized truck completely blew a stop sign.

tire tracks show that he literally was within inches of a collision, then the asshat left the scene - leaving her, and our two kids, plus two of the neighbor's kids mired in a snowbank.

sadly, the asshat further had an assload of snow all over his truck/step bumper, and his plate # couldn't be determined.

3 other witnesses. and a very kindly towman strapped her out of the snow bank for free.

glad that it turned out as well as it did, but pissed off enough, that the adrenalin is giving me the shakes that someone came "--" close to taking out my entire family...

This is/was a fairly routine/scheduled trip/route she takes (and that taken by the 3 witnesses).

All will be on the lookout.

Glad she and the family are O.K.

You know, someone who drives like that will eventually have to pay the piper.

glad she is ok.

That is one of my automotive pet peeves. I clean off my plate on the rare occasion its snowie, on the XJ it rests high in a recess in the rear hatch so not much of an issue. They should be fines for asshats like that (does anyone know if its lawful to have the plate obstructed .... i just assumed it had to be but i dont remember that from drivers training?), and the winter asshats that are so lazy they clear a little slot on the windshield and thats it. I see these reckless fools every other day. Anyone that selfish if they get involved in a accident should be treated as a drunk driver would be. Its so selfish it makes me insanely mad i want to kill them myself!

Glad the family is ok. I am pissed reading it and i dont even know you guys.

Glad everyone's OK. Not all that much you can do about that guy though. Sucks no one was able to get the license plate.

if we see him again, I'll find out where he lives.

from that, the (legal) possibilities are endless. For one, I know the property tax assessors in the area... his property could face tighter scrutiny, and a "more accurate" assessment.

knowing the assessors, provides a tie-in to the local ordinance officers as well. unlicensed vechicles? a deck built without a permit?

I also know some of the police officers in the area... increased neighborhood patrols can, and will be a PITA for someone who drives like that on a routine basis.

and finally, I'll borrow, and walk my brother's great dane, and encourage "Gracie" to loaf down in his yard... :tonka: should be fun if he owns a snowblower and runs through a hidden mound of dane pewp... great big brown mist!!!1

I was with you until this... I still support giving him hell.

But, if he catches you and reports you, I know some cities consider dog poop littering. And some of those same cities consider littering to be worthy of a $10,000 fine. Not sure if its worth risking your money. Over something so small. Heck, for ten grand, you could do something WAY more creative.

I assure you, that's not the case here in my town, and certainly not for a first offense.

hell, when the neighbor's house was burning on 10/30, the firemen were shooting the breeze out front with the cops, all smoking cigarettes, and did the "stereotypical smoker's disposal" - simply droppped them on the sidewalk, and stamped them out.

in our neighborhood/city, inconsiderate asshats routinely let their animals roam, and there is nothing done about it. except for me (we don't own any for one, and I do something about it for two).

one inconsiderate, asshat neighbor had literally a dozen cats. they let them all roam, no shots, and unspayed. when they moved to pennsylvania earlier this fall, they charmingly enough left their cats behind...

I have a havahart live box trap.

cats haven't been a big problem (finally) in a while now...

theres this guy I know who shot his his neighbors dog. from what I am told hes being dragged into court and being sued for vet bills and the mental angquish of the apartent attement on their doggies life. I figure he's going to be out about $5000.00 bucks

you might need to teach your wife some defensive driving techniques, it could help avoid another mishap.

o.O

yeah, cause every accident is avoidable.

all things considered, with 4 yowling kids in the back seat likely singing at the top of their lungs as a distraction, and driving not the most responsive vehicle (an '02 chevy venture) on snow/ice covered roads I think she did a pretty damned good job at defensive driving considering how close she came to getting creamed by a guy that everyone who witnessed it stated was not only blowing through a stop sign, but doing so at a high rate of speed...

this whole year has been a repeated lesson in that it can always get worse, so be thankful that it's "only as bad as it is" and count the blessings that one does have :)

quite a few of our "outer circle" of friends (if that makes sense) have also had similarily trying times this year.
