1998 chevy k1500 transmission

i bought a chevy pick up with 230,000 on it and i was driving and it quit shifting into third, after that i paided a shop to rebuild the trans and after 1400, i got the truck back and the trans stopped shifting after ten miles, week after that i get it back and the truck makes it to 40 miles, and stops working, is there something that they are missing while rebuilding it

check wire connections, check brake light switch for right adjustment if brake light switch is broke or out of adjustment the torque convertor wont lock up

For one...stop taking it to that trans shop and get your money back

two, they're probably not filling it with fluid all the way when they put it back in

Yes they are over looking something. It sounds like there is no cooler flow, possibly a blocked radiator of trans cooler. Also if it is the 3-4 clutch keeps getting smoked, there is a checkball capsule in the case that can go bad and cause a pressure leak. This causes the clutches to prematurely wear out. It also could have a bad epc solenoid not producing enough line pressure.

if it been rebuilt n still has the problem i doubt uts the mechanical side of the trans... look at the electrical/ computer side of it. trans shops usually just reuse tthe solenoids n wiring n the computer is in the truck so if they bench it they dont even see it. my trans guy has a piggyback computer that he can run the whole trans with to rule out that kind of thing. look into something like that

Um no. Don't pay them again. They didn't fix it right the first 3 times. I would pull your truck out of that shop and take it somewhere else and get your money back. That is a line crooked trans shop owners use to not admit fault. It is 100% their fault that trans doesn't work.

your not running huge power, shouldn't be your fault.
