Trying to kick the habit.

Alright, so I have 5 cigarettes left in my pack. After reading nuggets post I am going to give it a whirl. I know as long as a message touches one person thats all that matters. So here goes. If CC doesn't mind I would like to update this thread often to show how my progress goes. I want to post the things I do when I feel like I need one. Because if I can help anyone quit that would feel great. It's going to be hard to quit with little support around my associates who all smoke. I think the support from others may help too.

Tips, products, and others are welcome.

Thanks.

Edit*- My addiction I feel is not more so the nicotine as it is the habit. But I do not know yet. The times I notice I smoke the most is, working on cars, driving, black-ops, and when I am just in a stand around time doing nothing.

I tried the nicotine gum.....did nothing for me except make me sick. Try regular gum and don't give up. I am trying to kick the Copenhagen I have lived with for 20 years right now also. Not fun but will be worth it.

parents have both been smokers for 30+ years.

Dad just bought one of those electronic cigarettes and its working for him.
Mom started on that chantix pill. She hasn't smoked in a few days.

It also helps that they are both quitting together. Good luck!

1. dont smoke inside your house or in your car.
2. dont drink coffee or alcohol
3. dont hang out with people who smoke, there is nothing a smoker hates more than someone quitting something they think that they cannot.

anyway good luck, just started smoking again about 3 weeks ago after 3 months.

some of those things prevented me from being able to kick the habit.

I'm kinda the same with the habit instead of the nicotine. I think I might have to start going to a different gas station to quit, because they always grab a pack as I walk to the counter.

edit: Nicotine gum just pisses me off a makes me want a cigarette.

Gum, and hard candy. But do it cold turkey! Patches and what not just prolong the agony. Only sucks for a few days, then it gets easier. Good luck man, totally worth it!

Get rid of your hidden backup packs. I was doing good for 3 months. Found a back up pack.. It was too easy.
