Default tracking text messages

Can they be tracked , and read ? I have Spring- Nextel. My work is starting to get into our phones and track things. Also GPS us.
I would just like to know if they can read the text incomming or out going.
We also pay half the phone bills through payroll. But the services are through the company.
info please......

I think all they can do is see what phone numbers you are texting.

It depends on the setup, but I know parents can track messages on thier kids accounts. I dont see why work would't be able to, they actually sell software for that.

If your employer pays any of your phone costs, assume they can see everything.

Your company Phone Coordinator can enable gps and watch whereever you go on a tracking screen. Be cautious.

Also don't forget to realize that if you Company has a "no Cell phone while driving" policy they can see when you are using your phone and, if it applies to when you are working, when you are driving and using your cell phone. I'm actually not surprised School districts don't do this with Bus drivers.

For texts to be tracked and read they need to be subpoena'd by a judge from your carrier for personal phones.

I'd assume on a "work" phone for a small company itd be cost prohibitive to have that service. on the flip side it wouldn't surprise me if a larger corp was tracking phone usage.

Depending on the phone, this is totally possible.

Also, if it's their phone, they can at any time ask to view your history if they suspect anything.

My company tracks all our phone usage and reads text messages, I dont work for a large company but it is not small either, we do about a million dollars in business a month. Well I guess that is a small business now days. I think phone companies offer discounts to businesses though, we have AT&T everything, T3 internet, cell phones, land lines, ect.

I know they do this because I work side by side with the IT department and have watched them print out text logs for the owner to read.

When I get off work I go straight home and that is where the company phone stays, I have a personal phone for all my non work conversations, I simply enable call forwarding to my personal phone so my company can get a hold of me when I leave my house...as far as gps goes I am always home

Also read your company policy on what is and is not allowed on company phones. Personal (or explicit) text messages may be a termination offense.

This is an inaccurate statement. Only if the phone is in the companies name. My cell phone is paid through my company, although it is in my name and they cannot access my account or see records without my authorization.
It really depends on who's name is on the account and what the company policy is.
