Default Wish Granholm was back.

Rick Snyder is going to screw things up much more than Granholm ever did.

At least Granholm never F**ked with school funds, Snyder plans on cutting school funds and just in my little city starting next fiscal year each one of our kids are going to see an $880 cut in their education funds...wtf?

Now he wants to tax poor people and the elderly to raise funds to give big businesses a tax break...another WTF? Now I am not for supporting lazy people who do not want to work but there are a lot of hard working people in this state that are just getting by and considered poor and I do not feel it is right to take what they already don't have and give it to some rich f**ks!

You know why he is doing this don't you? He has ties with Devos owner of Amway, Devos who is a multi billionaire ran for Governor last election, he was pushing all these big tax cuts for corporations that would benefit himself. Now his buddy Snyder is in office and doing exactly what Devos wanted!

I am not a Republican I feel they just take from the poor to make the rich richer...nor am I a Democrat I feel they are just a bunch of crying babies who want everything for free.

Everyone rags on Granholm when in actuality she inherited a F*CKED up mess that Engler created...I don't care who became Governor after him it was a lose lose situation, however I feel Snyder is going to take things to a whole new level!

I dont have a problem with cutting spending...lets start with food stamps and free health care to illegal immigrants, make people who do receive state assistance take random drug test...bet you would cut 20% off that budget right there, I have to drop for my job with zero tolerance, make people who receive state assistance drop and if they are found dirty no assistance for a year!

What I have a problem with is where he is cutting spending like educational funds, f*cking with elderly peoples pensions, my Mom is going to retire next year, her house is paid off and so is her car but after doing the math she will just be getting by for now without dipping into her savings, lets tax her more so she will be forced to go back to work!

Everybody needs to figure out how to do more with less. That is the only way that we are going to turn this falsely inflated economy around. If your mother is going to be screwed after a 200 - 500 annual addition, she was going to be screwed anyways. Initially the shock with be huge to everybody, but once it becomes normal, and people figure out what that it is what needs to be done to survive, I think this state and it's people will flourish.

she should be taxed...my 401 is taxed so i don't see why your mom can't pay tax on a pension?

I'm 100% pro Rick until we see how it swings one way or another. So far, it's all talk, nothing has been passed so we can't evaluate whether his plan will work or not.

To me, what we had did not work. Business's are folding up left and right and people are leaving the state. We are bringing in less than we are spending. Schools are no different. My wife and both daughters work for school systems. My wife may lose her job. But guess what, IT'S NOT WORKING THE WAY IT IS SO SOMETHING HAS TO CHANGE.

Very well said. My fiance and I are in college and live off less than $18k a year working part time jobs, that is including the little bit we get back from scholarships and grants after tuition is paid. We have not problem paying all our bills. Key thing is we "do more with less" we budget our money so that we make more than we spend.

That is the point!! How do you expect it to change? If everyone is bitching and moaning then Snyder got it right.

so has 30 years of business unfriendly taxation.

remember in 2007 when Comerica decided to leave the state? at the time this Michigan founded bank had 7,500 Michigan based employees.

their relocation was in part due to Michigan's grotesque Business Tax.

For not being like a Demo, You sure sound like one. . Something has to be done. If we do not act now, it will only be that more painful when we HAVE to act to save our state. It won't be easy and that idea scares the crap out of alot of people becuase they think life should be easy. It's not, and to make it liveable for future generations we have to make some pretty huge sacrifices.

X3. Our department is on the chopping block for our district as well. Education is a huge expense for our state. That's not saying education is bad, it's just the system is expensive, and if I were Snyder, I'd be going to the things that cost our state the most money and seeing what I could do to make them less. All in all, he's not goign to please everbody so I'd rather him do his job and make this state better.

The highest graduation rate in the United States for High school students is in Iowa 93%. Iowa receives less funding per student than Michigan. Michigan 75% graduation rate. It's not about funding it is about parents being involved when it comes to their childrens education.

I already figured out the solution. Move out of the state. Goodbye Michigan! Farewell, or at least, not too terrible! Vaya con dios!

The government doesn't provide jobs. Businesses do. He's evening out taxes and make the state more business friendly.

The free ride is over and now it is time to pay as we go. We cannot live above our means. Just as in most house holds you cannot keep using credit cards every month to pay for food, heat, car payment and going to the store and put everything on credit. It will hurt but in the long run it will be worth it.
