Default compare the 8.25 to the 8.8

just curious as to the differance in strength of the 8.25 out of a cherokee and the 8.8 from a explorer.....

just curious as i have a chance to get a 8.25 and thought that i may go that rout insted of the 8.8 ki was considering...

i see alot of threads on swaping in a 8.8 but none on going with a 8.25 since they are available from cherokee....

what are yor thoughts and info??

8.8 has bigger shafts and more aftermarket support.

well depends which 8.25 kinda, you have the older 27 spline and then the newer 29 spline 8.25 vs the explorer 31 spline 95+ with disc brakes from factory. and the 8.8 stock can handle up to 37" tires, and then can be upgraded to 33 spline yet after that. I'm a big fan of the 8.8 but it really depends on style of how you drive and what your overall goals are, and as well as what type of a budget you have set aside for the axle swap.

Check this out for some axle comparisons. 8.25 vs 8.8
