Cool shirt!

I'm digging the green as well. We be one to stand out for sure, which is the idea.

Craig,
If Mira doesn't see this, be sure to thank her for shipping the door parts to me - those will work awesome. Well, I stored them off in the box; if I take them out before I'm ready to use them, I'll misplace one.

With the weather breaking, I'm more motivated to get out and work. I worked more on welding/grinding the driver floor pan patch this week. My natural "perfectionist" tendencies are making a short job into a long job, especially when it's probably going to be covered up with Dynomat (or something similar) and a rubber floor mat.

I also added a "Net Project Investment" amount to Mira's first post in this thread. At this point, we only have $572 wrapped up in the entire project.

Excellent - glad they'll work well for you (thanks again for the purchase). I'll have her catch up on her build thread when I see her this weekend, Scot.

No further updates on her XJ, but I did get an old receiver, some speakers and an iPod docking station set up in the garage to give us some good tunes to listen to while we work. It's going to work out very nicely.

That's a good idea. We'll brainstorm, and maybe this weekend, Mira can post a list in her original post. Thanks for the suggestion

Craig

I'm quite partial to the lime green.

I worked late (after my girls were in bed), and early (before they were up in the morning) and got a couple more small ~3" x 4" patches in the floor fit & welded up. In the course of doing so, however, the switch on my 2nd beloved Milwaukee grinder died (the switch in the first grinder died about 6 months ago). In great mourning, I actually considered having a small memorial service & burial for it. When I mentioned it to Mira, she just rolled her eyes and smirked sarcastically...I love that kid!

I made some progress on Mira's floor pans. I finished up two small (~3.5" square) patches on the driver side, and started removing the full passenger floor pan to prep it for the full-length replacement pan I bought a while back.

I still have to wrap up a little grinding on the driver front foot area. I'm taking the day off work this coming Friday, and will be working on her floors most of the day. I'm hoping to make some real progress by the end of the week.

I also found out this week that a friend/co-worker's brother owns a body shop in Grand Rapids. I'll be talking with him within the next few weeks about getting a quote on the bodywork & paint.

Looking good Craig! Thanks again for the trans/tcase. It works great and was needed for the additional snow we received after I picked it up from you. Glad to see the father/daughter workmanship! Keep up the good work Mira!

Is that a 5-speed!? If so, I'm jealous! This is a very cool project for you to be working on together.

I also like that XJ sign. Very cool

Thanks Curtis. I'll be making a list of "To-Dos" for Mira since the weather's breaking. I'm going to get her going prepping & painting small parts. Plenty to do...

Thanks, alix4d. Yes, it's a 5-speed. I actually have two (2) AX-15s. The spare is from a '95, so it has the external slave set-up. That's the one we'll be using.

Here's the initial test-fit on passenger floor pan. I still have a fair share of cutting/grinding on the residual edges of the old floor pan, but that's the easy stuff (just time-consuming). Once the final fit is complete, I'll drill a number of small (3/16"-ish) holes to plug weld to the existing floor, unibody frame rail, and inner door sill.

I'm pretty impressed with the fit of the replacement floor pan from Sherman Auto Parts (again, a Michigan-based company ).

yeah looks good, next time I do floor pans I'm going with replacement pans vs doing it all on my own with sheet metal, a pain in the butt.

Agreed. The small, flat patches on the driver's side were worth piecing in, but not the case on the passenger side.

Perhaps. From a safety/first vehicle/new driver standpoint, though, a low COG is a priority at this point. It'll still be a capable wheeler with 31s.
