Default Remember the Ponderosa incident?

Capital Area District Library incident

http://www.wilx.com/news/headlines/L...115694279.html

For reference: Ponderosa Incident

One member on this board was part of the Ponderosa incident too. I can't remember his name. I wonder if he was at the library too.

I'm all for guns, but these open carry douchebags are annoying. I know it's your right to carry a shotgun down the street, but it's also the right of fat dudes to walk down the street in just a man thong. Neither of which most want to see.

who the hell loiters outside a library? Most libraries I have been to have felt quite safe regardless of the area that they are in. I know I am canadian and my opinion doesn't matter but I'm pretty sure a small to medium sized concealed handgun would be more than enough to feel safe in a library.

X2 I'm in another state and its just starting out here. A city is essentially making policies like this and those same douche bags are whining about their rights like in the article. IMHO they don't know how good they got it. Two years ago they changed sheriffs and started issuing CPL's again. Last year the state became shall issue. Now they're getting pissy about the same shit in the article. Who the F needs to carry in a library?

im not sure how i feel about this topic,,,,,

i agree with the right to open carry and im pro gun.

i just dont agree with how these guys are going about it.

why draw negative attention to the gun group when they could be doing something positive for the user group?

I am right there with you.

There was another incident involving a MIGunowner member that went to the library for a meeting and was approached by a rent-a-cop that asked if he was carrying. Legally the rent-a-cop has no authority to ask that question. Libraries are public entities that are subject to premeption under state law. Their no weapons policy is illegal. The library is just chosing to fight a losing battle. Do I agree with someone walking in with a shotgun? NO. Do I believe that I should be able to walk into the library open carrying a .45 on my side? YES.
