F150 axle compatability question(s)
I know nothing about Ford trucks so I am asking here.
Guy at work has a 1990 F150 5.8 2wd. His rear end went out and I am trying to help him find one.
From what my research shows, he has an 8.8 since they quit using 9" in the mid 80's. Correct?
Now what year axles can be used on his truck as a direct bolt in? Will the '92-95 truck axles work? Or does he need to use one from his truck generation?

According to my resources, the 8.8 was the only axle used in F-150s from '88-96.
Sorry, don't know for sure about compatibility of using newer gen axles.
