Default Fury over Pope's remarks raises concerns

The world is going to hell because of religion....

If religion were banned, there would be less hate.

#1 I hope people remember that the Pope does not speak for all Christians

and #2 Isn't it ironic that the concern is that some muslims will react to thier founder being called "evil and inhuman" with voilent protests.

Default evil and inhuman

Religion is a reason for fighting. I think it is impossible to ask two people with strict and devout, but different, religions to get along. Religions think they are dealing with life, death, afterlife, the well-being of humankind, and good versus evil. This isn't like having a different opinion, it is a different life, a different right and wrong.

Did you mean toilets?

I am no stranger to the thought that religions as a whole are screwed up. Shoot, must churches are a mess. So does this mean that almighty God is messed up, or that his people are a bunch of imperfect screw ups? I propose that it is the latter.

I would also propose that God is not terribly religious. He is not about repetitive acts of goodness that are intended to impress him, trust me, he s not impressed by us. God is not religious anyway, that is how mankind has boxed him. God is relational above all else. We would all be better off by concerning ourselves with relationship above religion.

That is quite possibly the most profound post ever on GL4X4. I'll have to think about that one.... when I'm sober...

I think we both know how easy it is to figure God out while throwin back a few ;)

God despises our lame attempts to get on his "A" list. He only wants to be in a love relationship, a sacred romance, with us. Much like a Father loves his son. Surely a Father wants his son to obey his commands, but more than anything, he wants to love his son, and recieve love back from his son. God the Father is no different in the way he desires to interact with us, his children.

Religion is nothing more than a backwards attempt at relationship with God. I consider myself a Christian, which is my "religion" but I tend to hate the association because of how screwed up things are.

Well just because an Islamic person kills a Christian person doesn't make it "in hte name of religion". But if it is doesn't it just help to prove the Pope's comments acurate?
