It is not a LSD it is a mechanical locker. It is a huge POS but it is a "real" locker. But when it does work it works as a LSD for the most part.
There is video on you tube of how it works.

idk, im getting conflicting info with google searches, im still almost positive that mine and all of the others are LSDs though. either way you are correct that its a big POS.

i believe that GM just uses the G80 as a code that there is a diff traction devise in the vehicle and then depending on what vehicle it is it gets a locker or a LSD. it seems that every RWD vehicle that has a LSD or a locker has the G80 code.

All s-series lockers are the same G80, just like in the full size.

It not a 4" lift its about a 2" then another inch from the tires.

Its not like you look under and see a lift, its built into the frame mounts and shit.

Sounds like it is a Z, please post some pics to comfirm.

That's like with myself. I have a 1988 S10 p/u 4x4, put 3 1/4" keys on her and cranked them completely, running 3" lift up front with 3" shackles in the rear and running 33x12.50's and only have a little bit of rub on the cab, but only cause I'm too lazy to cut a hole IN The cab and weld in a plate of sheet metal to compensate the hole in the floor. But I've never had them rub on my Swaybar, or on the frame. In fact I can put 35's on her and they still won't rub the frame cause I got

15x10 rims, with 2" backspacing, so it kicks them out from under the truck. Got the rims for only 49.00 a piece through Summit Racing. ;)

S 10 s jimmys bravadas All use the eaton gov lock as an optional locker.when there new with stock tires there ok, after that there a pos. All s series come with a 7.5 or 7.625 rear axle unless its a zr2, then its a 8.5 with the same pos gov lock design. Pretty capable stock but the frames are real low to the ground and ifs doesnt like to be lifted.they eat ball joints!put moogs in and grease often!other then that there a good dd.
