Default ?? on a dana

i got a dana 30 in the front of my yj and it has the vacuum actuated axle. the fork in the vacuum motor is bad a i just want to weld the two axles together and not mess with the vacuum

Don't weld them, just move the fork over and lock it in place with a screw, like everyone else does.

Welding them would mess up the heat treating/mechanical properties of the axleshaft and liekly wouldn't last long at all...
