TDIs seem to have a cult following (good marketing, I guess), and prices were CRAZY high when I was looking for one. I hope you can find one to suit your needs. I knew a guy who ran bio in his, and loved it with the mileage that they get.

I also know that TDIs can be problematic in terms of electrical issues, and VERY pricey for maintenance. Just make sure to research well before buying.

I've found the same, everytime I decide to buy one I chicken out because of said electrical issues and expense to maintain.....then again, how bad can they be?

I picked mine up last month for 9k....sourhtern '01 limited 7.3 198k...been getting 17mpg...picked it up in Arkansas, went strait to Cali then home pulling my trailer..was avg 13-15 with a load...My uncle has a X with a v10 and is anywhere from 8-12mpg empty

while looking you can find a nice one with decent miles(150-175k) for 10-12k
the miles on 7.3's do not make a difference...if you can get maintenece records thats a big plus...I sold my last 7.3 with 500k on it and it ran like a top...you can give me a 6.0 but it would be at the end of my drive with a for sale sign in it 10 minutes later....I have had too many friends with multiple problems with them to even consider buying one

I saw a few diesel suburbans with under 100k for around $10,000...I just didn't think they were worth that much. I looked for about 4 months.

My Friend got a 90's Style Burban with a Diesel in it for 1000. Had 200+ thousand on it and a dented up front quarter panel. Runs great. Just wish he would keep the inside clean. Even compared to me, he's pretty messy.

If you find another like that but preferrably with less miles let me know.

Hey, I have a vegetable oil system "dinofuel V3" that came out of a 2002 F250. It is in very good shape. Been sitting on shelf for 2 years, guess I should sell or get vehicle for it. Google dinofuel alternatives for info on the system, I believe it works with 1999-2003 7.3 powerstrokes...........PM for serious inqiruies.

The original poster stated that they are interested in a diesel powered SUV so they could use alternative fuel. The V3 dinofuel system is an automated system that controls the delivery of two different fuels. Diesel and whatever else you want to use (waste motor oil, waste vegetable oil, rendered fat or whatever works for you).

Not really interested in running unprocessed veggie oil in my new truck and clogging up its arteries

I would much rather convert WVO over to Biodiesel for many reasons #1 is I also heat my house with Biodiesel in the winter so I would not only be making my own fuel for my vehicles but also to keep my house warm.

I disagree. The most I paid for diesel since Oct. 15, 2005 was $4.899 on July 6, 2008 at Louies Fresh Market in St. Helen. Next fill-up was July 19, 2008 for $4.799/gal.

Since Oct. 15, 2005 and 88,039 miles I have spent $17,154.38 on diesel!
