I was pretty fussy about the way I wanted mine to sound. I ended using some Hooker block huggers (very similar to the Novaks now available), then went into a single 3" universal cat and Hushpower Pro series muffler with a full tailpipe. I am really happy with how it turned out. Here's a couple clips from the dunes where you can hear it.

Too loud for me. I like to be able to talk while I'm cruising.

Creepy ordered a couple sets of headers for the table in the garage.
The first set i believe was Hedman...shitty finish, even worse looking welds, complete with a ton of splatter.
He sent them back.
The Sandersons were by far a higher quality header.

Definitly not concerned about spending a lil extra for quality parts, but still would like to save $ where I can. Done with my jeep being held together with zip ties and duct tape!

Becky, I had my exhaust done local at Calahan's in Pontiac. They do great custom work.

For the record, I like John D's also.

I've gotten a couple pm's about people who do custom exhaust. Getting motor , trans etc. set in first, then making next set of decisions. aka shifter, exhaust, radiator....

I'll check with Kevin when I drop the jeep off about exhaust. Thanks!

As far as John D's goes, nice rig no doubt!, hard to tell anything from video as far as loudness goes. I know I don't want mine obnoxious, but a definite rumble when ya hit the throttle

you have a long way to go before you need to worry about mufflers.
radiator
headers
shifter
tube and air filter
tcase
adapter
computer wire and flash
new tranny and t case mount
new linkage for tcase
build new skid
driveshafts
new fuel pump and lines since your year does not have enough pressure to run the motor.

If you don't consider exhaust from the start you could have some serious issues before you finish. Everything you mentioned needs to be considered as a package. If you plan as you go you will do a lot of things twice, or three times.

Just a couple months ago weren't you saying "It'll be a piece of cake, I have all the little stuff figured out already, just need a few weeks to slap it together"... or something not too far from that?!

Skip the headers and use the factory exhaust manifolds. Less heat under the hood, easier to package and still lots of hp. Only thing it doesn't have is the bling factor.
