Default headgasket

Are you sure its the head gasket? A lot of times the timing chain has rubbed through the timing cover.

It's not that hard to do lay the manifold back and you can lay the complete intake back if you are carefull then those are the only gaskets ya need to replace. But like wickedlowss said at least inspect the cover and chain while ya have it apart

Default timing chain

Pull the valve cover and look down at the timing chain , If the chain is sloppy it will usually rub a hole/grooves through the cover and mix coolant and oil. Quite common to confuse this for a bad head gasket on a 22re. I have a good one here u can have if yours is bad.

Here is a crappy pic i found online

You need a new one, and guides too, it's a given.

Pulled the valve cover off it last night chain appears to be in good shape. One of the PO's may have replaced it and not caught a problem with cover or it is the head gasket. Current owner is supposed to pull head today.

He had head off last night. Sounds like it was the head gasket.
