Default side post battery

hi i have a 15 inc dc audio and was wondering if i can add a second battery to keep a constant voltage i just got a 900 cold cranking amp battery for free but is a side post can i add this and wire my bastterys in parallel

i have heard that they kill you battery/ alternator over the long run



could i just hook the side post battery in my f150 or will that not work
