I've done enough trail riding with buggies to know that I wouldn't want to compete head to head with them. Sure, buggies get smoked at times but it's usually due to driver error. Equal drivers, my vote would usually be with the buggy.

Food for thought........ This year's Peterson's TTC had a buggy class and a truck class. Hmmm....

We're thinking a Framed Class, and a Tubed /Buggy Class next year.

Yeah but Nick, you know full well that a light weight buggy "typically" does better than a full bodied jeep. Otherwise all the pro's would still be running full bodied rigs at KOH.

heres where the rules get hard. you have to decide what is a framed vehicle. how much of a stock frame can be modified or replaced.

my rig was based from an fj-40. I have 4ft of 2x4 box tube as my main frame and then i used tube for the rest. I could argue that the 2x4 is a replacement to the rusted out stock frame. just like buying an aftermarket boxed cj frame. i have functioning full stock hard doors. the stock cowl and dash and windshield. full floorpans body panels and same seating capacity as a stock fj-40.

without looking at the rig what class would it be considered?

its just some food for thought when you guys start deciding on the rules. take a long look at other rock racing series and how the determine the rules. this will help with keeping all race bodies in line so people dont have to change things for different series.

We were just discussing this very thing right now. It's going to take a lot of research, and tweeking to get this one right.
The concern is that we don't leave any holes in the rules, and get that one rig that is sitting outside with no classification when it's time to go. As well, like you said, a guy does not have to re-build it just to run this event then change it again to run another.
Thanks for the lead on the Rock Racing Series, we will be looking hard at that.

Thanks.

I think there should be a under 40" class. for us that want to hang with the big boys but drive our junk to the comp.

i think you guys should get in contact with the TT crew, come up with similar classes so you can get as many competitors as possible so people dot have to change their rigs week in and week out.

Too bad about the hood and cowl, but good job on saving the windshield frame.
That was a lot of fun! I think my yj did pretty well for what it is. The body damage just adds character! Thanks again paul for spotting! You worked your butt off!

Yeah, I drove up. I came up to see the park, and the comp. I've been wanting to see the park for a while. I'm a former Michigander.

After looking through my pictures, I found this one of the Branik motorsports guy watching Jeremy come (flying) through warn valley ;) wish I'd have got his face as he went over the finishline.

I think the Branik guy thought he was safe, looking at the competition. Then when Jeremy blew his motor, I figured his mulligan would be blazing fast, since he didn't have to winch through the first run. In fact he came through the first section, and basically skipped over the tire pit.
Somehow he just got high centered on a boulder and couldn't get it off.

you're welcome, I thought I had seen your jeep before, I just couldn't remember whose it was. I have more pics to post, plus, I plan on posting videos of each competitors run individually.
