Default Jk Dana 60s?

hey all
As some of you may know we are currently doing a build up for a friend of ours that is in the army. We are taking a 4 door jk and swapping in a 6.1 hemi in it(going to run 37s). He was thinking of buying some rock jock 60s for it but was wondering if we could save much money building 60s from the junkyard axles?

I have never looking into 60s all that much.(my jeep is a 30/35 lol) and was wondering what it would cost to set up a front and rear combo for the jk as well as were would be the best donor vehical to get the axles? I talked with him a bit and he said it will be awhile before he beats on it too much (just silver lake and some street driver at first) so we can spend money down the road as far as better shafts or whatever as it come time.
Thanks

Ford dana 60's are always a good choice; 78-79 or 89-91. The rubicon 44's from a JK can be built up pretty strong, "should" be able to handle the power of the 6.1 and 37's. Unlimited Offroad had a Rubi JK with the 6.1 on the Rubi axles and it lasted just fine.

Biggest issue with the JK is the speed sensors at every wheel and keeping the computer happy.

Might want to check out a J8 rear 60 and just sleeve and/or truss the 44 front

River Raider has been working on some outers so you can use junkyard Ford hi pinion 60 front and Chevy 14 bolt rear and still run the sensors on a JK. To my knowledge, they aren't available, but I know of a handful of guys that been able to get early versions of them so you may want to check there.

As stated already, Rubi 44s can be built tough. You can get Dynatrac inner Cs for the front axle or trus you stock Cs. You can retube or sleeve or truss the tubes. And ARB makes 35 spline lockers. Combined with some RCVs, you have a damn bullet proof axle. Of course, the ring and pinion is now your weak part, but I haven't heard too many of those breaking, as they are beefed up over the old 44s. I've even seen guys use the Rubi 44 center and put on Dynatrac 60 outers so you truly have a 60 with a 44 ring and pinion.
