Default easy fix?

Of just went and looked at a truck it was an 88 the truck haas 167000 miles on it, its a regular cab 22re truck anyways it had oil all under the hood looked like it came from over by the intake the truck runs decent it would be a fixer upper and out would be 1000 bucks its purpose would be a winter truck and something to wheel in when i can also he said the cv axle was bad so I looked and you can shake it with your hand...
I also was wondering if anyone on this forum has attempted to graft a extra cab onto a reg cab truck, they aren't as common here in michigan thanks for any help or advice, zeth

The part about grafting a extra cab onto a reg cab. Do you want to put a extra cab cab on or are you talking about actually fabbing up a extra cab on the regular cab. Either way the frames are different lengths and I'll say i'm sure you can but it is likely not worth the work or the headaches.

Oil is possibly coming from somewhere in the front of the motor and the fan is spraying it on the engine. There isn't many things with oil in them on the intake side except the oil filter and the oil pressure sending unit both of which are easy to see if they are leaking. My truck leaked oil from the front main and it sprayed oil over everything.

I was talking about grafting an extra cab onto an reg cab like actually cutting down the back section and welding a new one on I have heard of it done and the truck has a flat bed so I would lose a little bed area but gain more cabin room which is great and definitely needed.does anyone know if there could be damage to the front end with the cv able being that loose

Cutting off the cab and welding it on is a pain in the butt and not worth it.

Its an 88, those are all over in xtra cab flavor. I scrapped a rust-free xtra cab SR5 just 2 years ago, couldn't get anyone to buy it for $200.

If you have a solid reg cab, just watch for a decent xtra cab body. The mounts are identical, except for the very rear pair of mounts.

I put an 85 (2nd gen) xtra cab body on my 83 (1st gen) longbed. Slightly harder swapping across generations, but still pretty easy.

Check your frame, where it curves up by the rear spring hangers (front of springs), most are rotten there. Don't put work into a rotten truck..

Yes, just the cab. No interior other then dash and column, sitting on half a frame...does have doors on it and all glass is there. I think I have some interior parts I can throw in as well (center console, misc trim pieces, etc)
There is some rust but it is easily patched, and the drivers fender is bent up a little bit, but I may have one to replace that with I can throw in. I'm not sure right now if I saved that or if it went to scrap last time I hauled stuff in.

I'll pm some pics later, probably not till tomorrow at the soonest, though.
