Default ***SOLD***1978 El Camino SS, $6500***SOLD***

***SOLD***SOLD***SOLD***

Updates added where the bold updates are.

Well, it's hard to believe I'm doing this but... I'm being brainwashed by Yamaha to buy a Warrior 8O (the motorcycle, not the quad).

Soooo, here goes:

Price: $6500. Trades??? only for a Yamaha Warrior motorcycle (not the Warrior quad).

1978 El Camino SS

Engine: 350, comp 268 cam, dyna-gear double chain/gears, Vortec heads with screw in studs and high lift springs, Professional Products alum. intake, Edelbrock 1406 carb, accel coil, new plug wires from Summit, new Bosch Platinum plugs, UPDATE:and a brand new high torque mini starter.

Trans: WC T-5 from a '91 Camaro, new clutch, new light weight flywheel, new slave cyl with the braided stainless hose, F-body clutch and brake pedals mod'ed to the G-body bracket.

Rear end: 3.73 open from an '86 Monte w/ new outer axle bearings and seals. I have a stock posi unit that will go with the sale.

Brakes: SSBC dual piston front calipers with Hawks brake pads, stock rotors, B-body large bore master cyl., Russell braided stainless hoses front and back, all new steel lines, rear drum brakes with new shoes/cyls./hdwr and aluminum F-body drums.

Exhuast: Headman headers, Torque-Tech duals with the Monte SS style tails out the bumper, mufflers are Summit Turbos.

Interior: Out of an 1984 Elky Conquista, grey, power windows/locks/tilt, wood grain style dash pieces, steering column from a floor shift G-body, seats out of a Buick Regal (drivers side power), new headliner, new carpet.

Stereo: JVC CD head unit, Legacy EQ, Pyramid 3.5's in the dash, 300w Audiovox 6x9's in the back.

Body: Indigo Blue metallic and GM corporate silver, roll pan and front spoiler from Honest Charleys, new drivers side 1/4 panel.

Wheels/Tires: 16's off a 2001 S-10 Xtreme with brand new Falcon Zeix 245/50/16's

Suspension: All factory F-41 braces, Monte SS rear sway bar, F-body 36mm front hollow sway bar (the hard to find one), KYB shocks, BMR Fabrication control arms in the rear, poly bushings in every bushing location (no rubber anywhere), F-body quick ratio steering box with cooler. Steering components and springs were all replaced just before I bought the car and have appox. 15,000 miles on them.

Cooling: F-body alum. radiator, F-body elec. fan and upper shroud, new hoses and new water pump.

Here are the pics: http://elcaminocentral.com/gallery-album_albun47.html

There are two things that it will need, a carb calibration kit to better match the cam ($35 kit from Summit), and a pinion bearing (starts to howl at 70mph+) I got a quote from a local off road shop of $150 to do the pinion bearing and have the posi installed.
UPDATE: The carb issue is solved, all it needed was a new accelerator pump. It is now smooth as silk as opposed to the hesitations it had before!!

This Elky corners like it's on rails and sets you back in the seat when rowing the gears. Over all it's a nice car, not trophy winner, just a nice fun to drive cruiser that turns heads! But, I have just as much fun, if not more, riding my old GS750 motorcycle. Thats why I've decided to try and sell my SS and go after a newer bike. I'll probably regret it years down the road though :-(

I'm located in Schoolcraft Mi, half way between Chicago and Detroit.

If I didn't just blow some $$ on something else, I would jump all over this.

The performance numbers between the two arn't far enough off to matter much. The Warrior barely has better 1/4 mile times and the 60-80 mph roll up times are only like .20 sec. off from each other.

Anyway, BTT
