It is way to easy for people to be lazy. They should have to pick up the check in person - one or two locations in each county, they should have to pass a drug test, Once the male birth control is invented they should force everyone on government assistance to take some form of birth control. Put these people to work and do as many of the government jobs as possible while they are on government assistance. Fuck these people and their uselessness.

The argument for this is "then the children would suffer". I've heard it before.

Another great idea. here we are providing handouts and getting nothing in return. I know if it were me needing state assistance and I had to show up to work for the money I would be there ready to work.

If they fail the drug test their children should be removed from the home.

But then, you would be too tired to go play at a casino.

What they need to do is drug test and make them come in register with a temp agency or log in some many hours filling out job app, that would kick half the people off the system

So sad.
The CCC put people to work in a great time of need.
The administration we have now, puts in place a policy of providing free voutures for housing, food, phones, transportation, electrical service, cable tv. Every thing the working man has. What do the clowns do, Riot. So the police are called in to control the situation.
Drug Testing
Work in public service in exchange for benifits.
No inspections on the home etc are necessary, big brother and big government have went far enough.

Don't want to be drug tested, can't past the test, don't want to work.

Starve, we can not provide all of this for free. The burden on society is to great.

We are failing as a nation. Vote for real change. Put any third party canidate in office. Send a message.

Default you people dont have a clue.

I have been unemployed for 15 out of the last 17 months. Because we have a child we qualify for a bridge card. Ours is food only, no cash benefits. We get $220 a month for food. With careful shopping it goes along way. If it wasn’t for my wife’s addiction to diet coke I think we could cover almost all our food with it. I shop once a month at a “salvage food” store. I have volunteered at 2 food banks, as a volunteer we get a package just like the people who wait in line. I share the food with an elderly neighbor who lives below the poverty line.
Before my layoff in 09(thank you Obama) I had been working in automotive engineering since 1978. After paying taxes for 32 years I have no guilt for getting “food stamps” I f%^&ing earned them! I don’t gamble other than the lotto; I will still buy an easy pick when it’s up over 50M. If I did get a cash benefit, I would buy ammo rather than go to the casino.
Not everybody who receives public assistance is a scumbag. We (Michigan) are leading the nation in unemployment. Over one in ten people used to have a job just like you! They are not lazy, they are unemployed! Do you know how hard it is to get a job when you are over 40? Companies would rather some dumb ass kid fresh out of collage.
I find it sickening that you see signs in mini marts and convenience stores that say “bridge card accepted here” might as well read “ hey dumb ass, throw away your money here”. In the past 17 months I have become a cheapskate to the point I could squeeze a nickel till the buffalo farts.
It sucks trying to raise a kid and do the best for him with no money in your pocket. It sucks only being able to occasionally eat out at a place with a dollar menu. It sucks not buying your wife a Christmas present. I don’t know what has to happen to get a cash benefit from a bridge card. I just know I don’t want to find out.

When I was in college one of my classes had me with with some disadvantaged families in detroit. I was horrified by what I saw. I was working with one woman, teaching her how to clean and cook for her and her baby and she told me that she was trying to have another baby so she could get more money. I worked with several families(single moms and kids) and none of them were trying to get ahead. Most of the women were brought up in homes on assistance.
I think that work and drug tests should be required.

I have to take a drug test for my job. I don't see a problem with requiring a drug test for welfare or unemployment.

Drug test should be required it shows the money isn't being used as it should be, and also speak's to the level of responsability of that party. There should be limits on how long you get it also. Personally they shouldn't be taken at any ATM and a $10 limit of cash back at the store.

I'm sorry you're so offended.

Like others have said, you're not part of the group we're bitching about.
Things are tough all over and there are many people who are in need.

There are also just as many (I'm betting more) who are abusers of the system, who've been raised in system abusing homes, groomed to perfect ripping off the government. This group has made a career out of milking every tax paying pocket in the state. these are the people we are so pissed at.
These are the people who pushed us into feeling the need for drug testing, community service for assistance and possibly even forced temporary sterilization.

I'm effing sick of handing over so many of my ass busted dollars to people who are just suckin up air!

You are who the system was designed for. The system is supposed to be a crutch until you can get things turned arounds, like you are trying to do. It is not meant to support a lifestyle and be milked, manipulated, and permanent.

There are also just as many (I'm betting more) I follow the "5% rule". Out of every racial and social economic group there are 5% of the people screwwing it up for the other 95%
who are abusers of the system, who've been raised in system abusing homes, groomed to perfect ripping off the government. This group has made a career out of milking every tax paying pocket in the state. these are the people we are so pissed at.

As said before I am not offended, I am incensed at the level of sheer stupidity of MOST of the people posting here.
FYI I don’t think you should be able to get a "cash benefit" at a casino.
I don’t wish to spend much more of my life trying to educate the people here so I will only pick on one other post.

This was how it was with unemployment up until the mid 80’s there were dozens of locations around the state employing thousands of surly lazy government workers. When they eliminated all of that, it saved the state (taxpayers like you) MILLIONS of dollars

they should have to pass a drug test,
How much does that cost? And are YOU willing to pay for it?
Once the male birth control is invented they should force everyone on government assistance to take some form of birth control.
From around 1900 to the mid twenties the United States was sterilizing the mentally retarded and “criminally insane”. The well-documented science was called eugenics, we were a word leader. When a certain vegetarian came into power in Germany in the early 1930’s his cronies used the United States eugenics research to help improve the master race. It was first used on the mentally retarded, gypsies and homosexuals. It eventually evolved into what is known as “the final solution”. For that reason forced sterilization has become a non-starter in the United States.
Put these people to work and do as many of the government jobs as possible while they are on government assistance.
Do you want someone living in poverty that is stupid enough to gamble away money, in charge of your tax return check or divers license?Fuck these people and their uselessness.
