1) Linden Larouche in an uber giant douche bag. 2) They guy was being a public nusence. 3) He got what he was looking for.

I'm sure if he just sat there with his garage door size sign and kept his mouth shut, they would have left him alone.

This was not an assult on this guy's First Amendment rights. He could have had an Impeach Obama t-shirt on, a more reasonable size sign, Impeach Obama all over his car, or whatever and not been bothered. This guys goal was to create a problem to gain attention and he achieved his goal.

I won't argue with any of that, maybe he was being loud before the film started, but what exactly do you mean by "more reasonable size sign"?

I personally feel that sign was alittle overwhelming if he was walking around in the crowd. He has the freedom of speech, not the freedom to harrass or inconvenience those around him.

I can tell from the first 5 seconds that he was being an obnoxious asshole, and would have been arrested no matter what sign he was holding.

didnt you notice the crutch? how could someone who is disabled and needs a crutch to walk possibly move around while carrying that sign?

he may have been loud, but unless they have a noise ordinence in effect during that time, the most they could/should have done is tell him to lower his voice

I dont see where this man was doing anything wrong. Look at the guy who used to stand in Owosso in front of the city offices holding signs with large pictures of aborted babies. They tried for years to get him to stop, but since he was doing nothing illegal (and doing almost exactly as this man was) they could not legally make him stop.

I'm going to go out on a limb here. If the fair was held by a private company, even on public property, they may have the right to refuse service to anyone, just like any other private business. I dont know the local laws/ordinances in AK, but my guess is that it was "justified".
I'd like to know if he was actually charged with a crime, or just escorted off of the premises.

I noticed he wasn't a mute. Freedom of speech does not mean imposing your thoughts or feelings on others. Look at the Christian nutbags that harrass the Muslim street thing in Detroit every year. They're on public property but they are not allowed to upset the people that paid for a permit to hold the festival.

Freedom of speech is not a right to say anything you want wherever you want.

yes, he was shot...by a nutjob that killed a couple other people that day...how does that have anything to do with whether it is legal to hold up a sign in protest of something you dont like or disagree with? You do realize a similar nutjob could possibly shoot you just for being in a store while he was trying to rob it?

huh...odd thing is, the only ones in the video that seemed to have any problem with the guy was the rent-a-cops...all of the people standing around were yelling at the cops, saying the guy did nothing wrong, etc...looked to me that they were all agreeing with his "thoughts and feelings"...

as for the muslim thing, they paid for a permit (as you already stated) to hold an event that is open to the public...not quite the same thing as being in public...restaurants and stores are also open to the public, but if they dont like the way you look they can refuse to serve you and make you leave thier property...the muslim thing is similar except that it is a much smaller time frame.

Now, Im not sure what the event was where this guy was, but it looked like there was something going on, not just an ordinary day at the local park...maybe the people hosting the event asked that the man leave and he refused, so they sent in security, I dont know.

My point is, a person does have every legal right to stand and hold a sign in protest of something they disagree with. They can even talk to passers-by about it.
