I love the "my diesel gets". I weighed my F350. 7100# for a reg. cab long box SRW. My F350 averages about 16. 22 is not bad if it is mixed driving.

The "Vuck" belongs to a friend of mine. It has a 429 and no overdrive. 8mpg empty on a good day. I have seen it get as low as 2mpg on the way to Silver Lake. He used about $400 in gas that trip. My F350 burnt about $40 in diesel fuel.

The "Vuck" is a special sort of hauler. I have seen the weigh slips from Rifkin. He has tipped the scales in excess of 30,000# gross. That is Vuck, scrap from his back yard, and trailer.

New Improvements on Whip 3.0!!!!

I just bought another big boat, so the 6' pickup bed wasn't going to cut it :

So, I started building this on Monday afternoon:

I really like this, just screwed on a 2x4 that I drilled some 1 3/8" holes with the hole saw:

The nice thing is that I built it just high enough that the dirtbike will fit below the yaks, along with coolers, bicycles, etc.

The lumber and a pound of screws cost about 35 bucks. I then bought another 3$ box of screws, 5 foam noodles @ $1.50 each, and a 5$ roll of duct tape ( I think that the rear noodles would get tore up quicker so I just covered it in duct tape)

Looks pretty Good! I built something similar when I had my S10. It beats buying the Thule rack that is essentially the same thing. How bad does that Truck sag with all the weight on it? That was a problem with my S10.

"all the weight" ? 11-84"x2x4"s, 2 or 3 50# kayaks, and a 200# dirtbike?

I guess I'll have to check it out. I can't imagine there being much sag from those things...

Keep in mind I'm thinking about an S10. A 200 Pound dirt bike, a kayak or two, and all the wood would have weighted it down. That's why I got helper spring for it.

That Dak shouldn't really notice it as far as sag goes. Quite a bit more spring than an S-10 (I've owned both)

Nice rigs

Pretty much the only way to fix it on a S-10 is to add better springs to it. My reg cab short box had ZR2 springs in the rear of it. It took a bed full of sand to make it sit level. I pretty much ran under the assumption "if it can fit in the bed, I can haul it.".
