Default need some info on replacing a rear waggy dana 44 wheel stud

So I have a set of waggy 44s under my YJ. I had to remove the rear wheel to investigate a noise from the drum brakes..only to find a pebble or two. Well in the process of reinstalling the wheel (old chevy shank style lugs) I managed to break one of the wheel studs right off. I have the stud, but am unsure how to get the broken one out to put the new one in. Do I have to remove the shaft?

Pound the old one out and if you can slide the new one through the back then you don't have to take the shaft out...
