A store employee then called 911 at the behest of the girl's mother. After the employee tells the dispatcher about the abduction, the dispatcher asks where the perpetrator is.

"He's over in shoes,'' the employee said.

I think that was his point.

I can't believe that the cops would let this go so far, and then continue to press charges even after the girls mother dropped them. It just makes no sense.

I can't believe the mother of the 3 year old would let the cops do that to him. For fucks sake, you lost your toddler and he was trying to help out (with his own mother). Do you think he will help someone out next time? I think we lost a good Samaritan.

You cannot believe the cops would let it go this far? What country do you live in? When do the police ever admit their mistakes? They'd rather waste a bunch of tax dollars tying up the courts and likely losing stupid cases than admit that they are fallible.

Cops just arrest people. It's the prosecuters that determine which charges to persue. They aren't helping anyone here, if the 'facts' are as stated. Just makes everyone think twice about helping their fellow man.

Read closer. Mother dropped charges, Sheriffs Department continued to pursue charges (albeit different ones).

I did. What I'm saying is the prosecuter's office could make this all go away. And they aren't.

I'm surprised he did not take the 3 year old into a car to follow a truck where he thought toddler's mom was.

Honestly, smart thing to do would have been to leave child with his mom while he browsed the store and searched for the mother.

I think this is complete fucking bullshit stemming from a simple misunderstanding, don't get me wrong..... but no way in fucking hell would I grab a little kids hand and walk out of the store with them.
