Default Electrical Help!!!

I just added a 12v deep cycle battery to the car trailer to run the winch. I have the 12v line from the 7 way plug going directly to the trailer battery using 10 gauge wire. The problem is I'm not getting anything going into the battery, or very little. With the truck is running I have 14v on the hot line when it is disconnected from the trailer battery. When I hook the power to the trailer battery I get battery voltage from the trailer battery, 12.3v sometimes up to 12.7v. I have tried grounding the battery directly to the trailer frame as well as through the 7 way connector, I get the same results eaither way. Any idea whats going on here?

sounds like you have a poor connection further up somewhere

disconnect the battery and put a light in its place (test light, bulb, etc) and recheck the voltage with a meter while the light is on and the truck is running... do you show charge voltage then? if not, move the lamp further up (other side of trailer connector) and repeat...leave everything after the spot you are testing at disconnected

Is the battery fully charged? You might be getting voltage drop from the extra load of charging. An ammeter might help you figure it out.
