2004 WeEX250

I just picked this up on Friday. It's in great shape w/ 3800 miles. These are some pics that I took Saturday. I hadn't washed it yet and it was a dusty ride home.

I want it to be a replacement vehicle, since I got rid of my gas miser little wagon and got a truck. I'm a gas mileage nut, so I wanted something that would pull great numbers and from what I've read, the ninjette fits the bill, especially if I change the sprocket.

I've already begun planning the mods I want to make to it. Actually yesterday, i installed an aux power outlet under the seat using the accessory wires. I used a 12v outlet extension cord and just cut off the male end, it really made for a clean install.

I've also just purchased a SW Motech tank bag and bracket, as well as a set of risers from a fellow ADV rider inmate.

Oh and another important farkle ;)

The risers will be very nice to get the almost upright position a little more upright. The tank bag will be nice because now I won't have to worry about scratching the tank up with the magnetic type.

I already had a RAM mount for mounting my hand held GPS to my dirbike, so I'm stealing the RAM mount to put on my ninjette, but for a NUVI 200.

I'll keep this updated with changes and I would appreciate input. :)

The last couple days, I began de-badging a bit. I took off the "ninja" stickers at the bottom of the bike and last night I removed one side that says Kawasaki (it was scratched, but the paint below wasn't)

Today the risers, tank bag, and gps cradle came in:

I just did a 40 minute round trip. I had to go to a training at the RESD. I love this bike!

I used to get 60 if I beat the hell outta mine, and could squeak 75 outta it if I babied it.

65-70. If I re-sprocket it, you're supposed to be able to do 80+. :)

I went to the Low Mart, here in Gladwin and picked up a couple good sized convex mirrors. Those really helped. I love this bike.

I added some waterproof lockable storage to my bike via a hardcase that used to hold nightvision goggles.

This is how it looked inside when I got it:

I gutted the bottom portion of foam so there was about 3/4" of foam lining the bottom.

I found some clearance drawer pulls at Meijer to use as tie down points if I want to have a duffel on top of the case. I used some neoprene plumbing washer to keep it watertight.

I stopped at the local Chinese Import Shop (dollar tree) and found a couple little pencil bags that would be good to bolt to the top of the case. I just used the same holes as the drawer pulls use. Oh, and I got one of those little led stick on lights. Who knows how long that will stay there, but we'll see. :)

I am pretty happy with the setup. It's very utilitarian (ugly) to some, but to me, I enjoy the look. Plus, I just need to loosen 4 nuts and its off the bike completely with no trace of it ever being on it.

Yesterday I wired up the box with some pieces I already had. I took the male plug that I had cut off the pigtail that I use as an outlet for the bike and ran that through the box using a little plastic bushing:

Then I wired that to another outlet that will be inside the box.

Although, possibly the coolest thing I added:

Bottle opener for soda or beer (only when camping or parked indefinitely) :)

thanks. They are a ton of fun. Before I got this one, I test drove a 97. Red w/ purple wheels. It was ugly, but I had a blast and I new that the ninja would be my next bike. Yours looks pretty good compared to the one I test drove.

Very nice. I actually think I saw you two weekends ago with the other bike and your dakota on the "Slow" part of 127. Didn't see the huge Wood rack and that made me doubt a bit.

Keep up the good work.

SW-Motech released a rear rack for the bike, so I ordered it. If I'm not riding it, this winter, I might as well be tinkering with it.
