skip the escargot at bowers' harbor though. its' been years since we ate there but it was definitely awesome back in the day (except for the escargot which was nasty). watch your speed on both center road, and peninsula drive.

I promise, you wont be sorry. Its only the most beautiful place in the world. Oh, and the Trip will be even better in a Jeep with the top down. if i blow by you in my truck, rolling coal, its no offense, im just in a hurry, lol.
Sounds like you've done that before? lol

Don't have a jeep with a removeable top, only a WJ, we'll either have that or my chevy. I like just crusing in my truck, not really going anywhere in particular, it's just nice to get out and take a nice drive. I've heard that ER is a pretty nice place, and i might just take your idea lol

The new Turtle Creek Casino is nice and I always seem to do pretty good there. We always have fun at Dillinger's/Bootlegger's downtown too. Good ther food also.

We've been thinking about going to TC. Two questions:

(1) Where is the best place to camp around TC?
(2) Should I bring my kayak? Any nice places to paddle?

What kind of camping? Campground, or backpacking?

Yes. You can do Lake Michigan, either in the bay or haul them out to Sleeping Bear. Or you could haul them to Suttons Bay or Elk Rapids and just plop them in the harbors and paddle as far as you want.

For rivers, the Boardman is a ton of fun if you're looking for something more technical with tight turns and decent rapids. You can get to Brown Bridge Dam, the best start point, about 15 minutes south of Traverse City. If you end up doing the Boardman me and I'll tell you how to make it work.... pretty specific and not quite so obvious place where you get out to avoid going into a dam's backwater.

1. Camp at the state park

and

2. Walk across the road to the bay.

If anyone is ever in TC and needs a good place to eat dinner at, I highly reccommend Boones Long Lake Inn. Awsome food with a great selection...and for the recored if they have an 18 oz new york strip on special, only get it if your really really hungry, i underestimated the size of it lol Freaking awsome though

Thanks for the reccomendation fullsize4life and boggin-machine!

Boone's Long Lake Inn. Best Prime Rib on Earth, Period. Huge amounts of meat. Their scales must be broken, because every time I get the 22 oz Prime Rib, I have enough left over for a second meal. And the rub they put on it is phenomenal. Steaks are huge as well. I always go there if I'm within a 2 hour drive from it.
