Default Ford 10.25 stergling have chip on gear's ring

Well member from here. He want 4.10 from me so he gave me this 3.55

History it came from 95 F250 ext cab with 351W E40D it have about 100K miles.

I would say it isn't bad just wear little.

I notice chip on gear ring which make me concerned about that. I don't think pinion gear would reach that chip.

Can it weld with arc welder?
ignore white circle it wrong. Look at red circle.

Inspect the tooth carefully for cracks. If there are not, just run it. The chip is not in the normal contact zone of the pinion gear so it should be fine. You can use a medium grit disc to polish the chip out so that there are no jagged edges.

I read ford manual book that I got from college.

It say it chip is end of gear you should be fine since Pinion wouldn't reach that.

Pinion gear does have wear you put your finger on tooth you could feel little bump.

I was wonder if I put 90w90 it too thin so it would wear out little fast if I use like 90w120 It would last longer? It will see highway daily.

Trenton to Fenton or Alpena.

Use 80w90, you'll be fine so long as the rest of the setup is okay.
