Where can I find a used Cummins and 6-speed trans setup? I would like to find a donor truck with this to swap into a truck I might find in the future.

I have seen on the auto/truck shows on Spike where they order them, or local would be better too.

Found a bunch but not exactly what I want or they want tooo much for it.

The one I am interested in the guy gets back in town today so i want to go look it over but it is supposed to rain all weekend.

I want a 2003 or newer dodge crew cab short bed 5.9 nv5600 or 1999-2001 F-350 crew cab short bed manual trans. I can be a little flexible for the right price.

Ok decided to step it up and offer my truck plus up to $10,000 for a truck I will want instead of settling on something that is cheap.

I was contacted about a 2006 3500 Dodge Cummins Megacab, shortbed SRW with 88,000 miles and loaded up. He is asking $26,500.

My truck is a 2003 GMC Sierra Z-71 5.3 with 65,000 miles and quite clean.

He said trade in for mine is about $12,000-$12,500

I said I could do my truck plus $10,000 and he said that might be doable.

Now am I getting a decent deal or am I offering too much?

I also know of a 2005 2500 Dodge quad cab Cummins with 90,000 miles and they are asking $20,500.

Any thoughts on either of these?

mega cab sounds like a fair deal to me. 5.9 mega's are hard to come by.
i see no-one mentioned the '03 7.3. those are the cats meow as for fords anyway. the 03 7.3's are IIRC 325 horse, and have the torqueshift trans. my cousin had one and i have to say i was impressed. im a cummins guy for sure, (i have six of them) and have always been a dodge guy at heart, but i have a soft spot for 98 and older crew cab fords. my first truck was an 87 crew cab long box 4x4 with a raging 6.9/C6 combo with 2.73 gears. i always wanted to build a crew ford with a 12V cummins and maybe i will somday, but the dodges are such great trucks the only reason not to run a dodge is if you really want the crew cab. and even then, with some searching you can find crew cab dodge conversions.

theres too many good choices, but if a ford i like the 03 7.3, or 95-98 powerstroke the best.

just be thankful to live in a time where we have an incredible selection of great trucks!!
