Default coil conversion

I'm about to start a 4 link on the rear of my '7. I have my links about figured out, but I cant decide where to mount coils.

I'm shooting for 4-6" of stretch, so my problem is, there isnt enough usable space to mount a decent coil spring between the frame, and axle. the way i see it, my options are outboard the springs, and have shitty flex. Inboard the springs, and have an unstable ride. or custom "back half" frame. (at which point I might as well opt for the coil overs / airshocks.) I would prefer to stick to conventional springs and shocks.

axle is a full width 60.

yes, I just posted this on pirate too, get over it.

You need to search more. I'm not a jeep person and even I know they notch the rear frame so the coil bucket sits in it.

4-6" is nothing that cant be taken up by fine tuning the placement of the components, theres no reason to "inboard" or move the coile inwards more than they come from the factory unless you want to feel like you are driving on top of a slinky.

Remember, your shocks need to be far out on the axle also, none of that leaned in 45 degrees shit and 4" apart at the top.

this guy has slightly inboarded springs, and they are stock (maybe 2") TJ springs. he says he maxes out 14" travel shocks.

Do you have a build thread showing where you will be mounting the springs etc...?

For $500 a corner you'd be miles ahead with regular old remote reservoir coilovers. Those still have the downsides of airshocks but they package like a coilover.
