Default Great Lakes JeepThing CJ Grill "STOLEN"! Please Help!

Great Lakes Jeep Thing's beloved Jeep CJ grill, 'Bubba' has been sold out from under the club and we would like help tracking it down so we can attempt to buy it back from who ever Erik (OOC) has sold it to.

Long story short the grill was built from donations by the members of GLJT for the club and has been a fixture at club events for the last several years. The member who stored it and had it titled to them sold it off this weekend (we think it was this weekend) without any notice to the club or it's members. Needless to say the club is both heart broken and angry; our members put countless hours into that grill and are all upset to hear that not only is it gone but it was sold without us even having a chance to purchase it back.

For the record the member who stored it had never complained about the finacial burden or ask for somebody else to take over duties even when it was offered on several occasions.

We, obviously, bear no ill will towards the person who purchased Bubba, it is a great grill that any Jeep club or enthusiast would be happy to own and how could they know things where not on the up and up, they took Erik at his word that the whole thing was a legit deal.

If you have Bubba or know who does we would like it if you could get in contact with us regarding purchasing the grill back if possible. We know it is a lot to ask, Bubba is a rare treasure and if I had it I would nto want to give it up either but the people who really own it never had a say in it's sale.

Thanks. I wasn't sure where else to post this.

It does stick out, so I hope somebody has seen it somewhere. Or maybe whoever "bought" it will see this. I'll gladly fork over cash out of my pocket to get it back. As a group we put plenty of work and donations into this little project.

I would like to say again to whoever bought this that we bear no ill whatsoever. There would have been no way to know that Erik sold something that wasn't technically his. But we would like to get it back. We will gladly re-imburse you for whatever you spent.

That is horrible. Hopefully you find it, and hopefully whoever has it doesn't tell you he spent $5000 on it

He's not kicked out. He's been having money problems and sold his trail rig. He hasn't been very involved with the club, but he's still a member. So I guess he's just a dickwad.

This came from nowhere, and we were blindsided by the whole thing. He won't answer our calls or come to the door so we don't know what's up with him.

Yes, he did plate it in his name with the understanding it belonged to the club. It was built with donations from the entire membership. Parts, labor, materials, and one guy donated an old CJ7 that we cut in half to use as a foundation.

It's not Erik with the copyright symbol at the end of his name, is it? It sounds like something he would do.

I remember who that cat is, and I'm sure a few others on here do also.

Don't think it's him. This Erik usually goes by OOC on forums.

Streamwood, IL. (Chicago suburb)

But from what I hear it's either on it's way to Wisconsin, or it's already there.

Nice job on the front page pic. A GL4x4 APB covers a lot of ground.

I hope everything works out in the end, and when it's returned a MEAT and greet is definitely in order.

Sorry, but if you guys were dumb enough to put the title in his name, he can legally do whatever he wanted with it.
