Default Rubicon CD player died :(

After 2.5 years of hard wheeling the stock 6 disk CD player finally quit working

Any suggestions of what I should replace it with? Are there stock resistance CD players?

I'm actually impressed that it lasted that long to be honest so . . . I gets a new radio!!

Honestly Ill never install a CD player in my TJ ever again. I rarely ever buy CD's anymore, and download pretty much everything, I always have my Ipod Touch with me. The new head unit I'm buying is from Fusion Electronics, http://www.fusionelectronics.com/aus...-category.aspx

Ill be buying this version, all my stereo will be waterproof; http://www.fusionelectronics.com/aus...6-product.aspx

I too agree with the MP3 type radio head units. Just plug in a flash drive and download as many songs as you want into the head, and never worry about scratching or loosing another disc again. Not to mention there arent nearly as many moving parts to break inside. I havent kept up with modern car audio, but I cant imagine MP3 storeable head units costing that much anymore.

I haven't bought a radio in so long that I'm way way out of the game.

I'm digging the harddrive style. I rarley ever have CDs any more so that look like the way to go.

best radio I've ever owned. And I will never go another day without having HD radio in my vehicles

http://www.amazon.com/Pioneer-DEH-P7...7638998&sr=8-4

They make one in a marine version, I just can't find it.

It comes with a USB adapter that hangs out the back into the glove box. and then an ipod adapter so you can leave the ipod in the glovebox and control it with the remote control. Plus I can charge my iphone from the radio.

JP magazine covered this a while back. They used a marine app. MP3 style head unit with marine speakers. I'll see if I can find a link.

Agree with skooter, I have a USB interface with an 8gb thumb drive in my Ford. Even my good MP3 reading CD decks skip on our roads (VERY badly rutted dirt roads), but the USB has no moving part, no skips. Plus more or less unlimited size. Plus voice control

I would get something with satelite radio and with a USB port or two. It's so nice to be able to store everything on a thumb drive and just plug it into the radio to listen to it. I'm so sick of normal FM radio it's seems all they play is commercials.
