my 650xl is about 45mpg, I like to cruise it up to meridith area and ride the Roscommen areas, nice woods and trails. grew up that way.
I do know that it's a powerful bike and have to work up to it's potential. Respect it. It's nothing compared to what I've ever owned, grew up on a 79rm400, the shit back in the day when I was a kid, some 125's and 250's, and streetbikes.

ya the 450 will hurt you. it has so much more power then the 650. i think its like 57 horse if i remember right. factory race bikes push out like 65ish. alot of power there to get your self into trouble fast if you dont respect it. i will never own another 2 stroke for my main bike again. love the power of the big thumpers

if your riding single track you will be looking for gas around 45 miles.we use to do 60 mile loops and i would always run out.

the new 450's are decent on valves.02 thru 06 had issues.just clean that air filter every time you ride.dirt is the enemy for valves.i use to change my filter after every moto. buy ten filters, oil them and put them in a ziplock bag.i recommend belray filter oil.works great.
get yourself a set of s12 michelins for the front and rear for the trails. the only thing you will not like is starting that bike when it is hot. the 09 is real picky on top dead center kicks or it will not fire.it stalls easy also.the fix for the stalling is a 700.00 slipper clutch.

Hey Scooter, how come everyone slams you so much.

The service guys said the filter is the most important thing to keep clean too. Alot of the valve issues stemmed from dirt. Thanks for all the info keep it comming Actually 45 miles isn't bad my cr250 does about that too.

I'm not slammin' ScOoTeR, I loves me my ScOoTeRbunny. (Just doing my job of giving him shit )
I'm glad ScOoTeR has passenger pegs on his KTM so we can ride double and save on gas.
