Lightbulb Auto-expiring marketplace Listings

In an effort to cut down on abandoned threads and clutter, I have a suggestion. Some other Forums so something similar, but they all seem to fukc it up one way or another.

Proposal:

Have Marketplace listings auto-expire after a set amount of time with no new activity - like 3-6 months with no thread activity. If the OP doesn't mark it sold within that timeframe so it can get picked up and moved by a Mod and nobody touches the thread otherwise, it just goes away as an expired, unsold item. Any new post resets the clock.

The only issue I would see with that is when it "Auto expires" it should just go over to completed sales. That way it doesn't delete any posts. I know we don't want to mess with post counts at all. We aren't even deleting Found items in the wanted section any longer for that reason. Otherwise, I am all for it.
It is a pain pm'ing people asking them if their item is *SOLD* or *FOUND* because they haven't bothered to follow the rules and edit their titles. It seems as though only about 40% actually take care of their threads the way they are supposed to.

Could you auto-append *ABANDONED* to the title as part of the automove to completed sales?

Who gives a fukc about what your post count is? Does anything that actually matters function off of that?

And don't tell me that the default User Titles matter.

You were directed to move items into Completed Sales that were not marked "Sold"?

I was directed to move anything SOLD, FOUND, TRADED, GONE, etc. to Completed Sales rather than just delete them.

Yeah, that's fine. Those are the ones you want to keep since they would be used not only for reference, but also for iTrader purposes (since Found items can result in a transaction). I'm only talking about deleting all the "abandoned" threads.

I suppose they could just be soft-deleted and removed from view. That way post counts and board stats are maintained. That wouldn;t make those Forums look better for you, though.

I say, shit-can the shit that people obviously don't give a shit about anymore! Who's with me?

That's all I was getting at. Post counts and board stats are all that were trying to be preserved.
