Default Cleaning Pistons

Just bout a set of good used pistons and they have carbon on them. Whats an easy way to clean the carbon off the tops?

Best way is to use baking soda in a sand blaster.

There is also a product out there called Piston-Kleen that works O.K.

If the buildup is only minor and only on the tops I wouldn't even bother.

I have found oven cleaner to work pretty well. I only did some valves with it and it worked pretty well, heated parts in the oven before spraying the cleaner on them and it almost wiped off. If they're Al pistons you might want to do further research before trying it out, it might be too harsh on them.
