Default Missing link "Ida" . . . well, not really a link to anything

Remember the tic unveiling last year of "Ida" the newest "missing link"? Well, turns out (surprise) it's well . . . not really a missing link. Here's the nonmissing link to the story:
http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/new...cle6884359.ece

The key part is:

"Darwinius masillae, the primitive primate that was unveiled to the world with huge fanfare and a Sir David Attenborough documentary in May, seems now to have been less of a missing link than an evolutionary dead end. Far from being an ancestor to humans, the lemur-like creature from 47 million years ago belongs to an entirely different branch of the primate family tree that has left no known descendants, research has indicated."

This is so typical - when the newest "missing link" is found - it's announced with great fanfare. Then, when it's determined that it's not really a "missing link," the story is just ignored. I wonder if Google will update its start page to correct the misinformation.

I think we covered it in the general sense that missing links turn out to be BS. But as I recall, there was no specific information at the time debunking "Ida," which is what I posted here.

Repostish. There was one thread on here that was about "ida" when they announced it on Yahoo and Someone posted up something at the end of it, Not sure who, Could have been me. It's ok though because half the stuff that get's posted about religion get's ed in a different form in the Vicious Cycle that happens on E-dabates.
