Default Anyone tried rebuilding SD unit bearings?

It looks like they can be disassembled with a spanner wrench. Anyone tried getting the bearings from an industrial bearing supplier and rebuilding one yourself?

This is on an 02, F350

if you have a junk one you're going to replace, i think the worst that could happen is you are out your time and have to buy one anyway.

but my guess is no

When you get into one you see why they are not repairable. They are built opposite a normal axle. The inner race is what turns and is also the wheel flange. The outer race is actualy made as part of the mount. That is the part with the four studs is ground to be the outer race.

I was afraid it was something like that. Thanks for the info.
